5 Important Steps to Grow Your Business
Feb 02, 2023
Don't you wish running your business came with a manual that when you opened it immediately business jumped out? Well, it's almost that simple. There are so many books, manuals, podcasts, and videos about how to grow your business. I'm only sharing 5 simple steps that worked for me and this is not an exclusive end all be all list. If you have some tips that have helped you I'd love to hear them. Simply email me so we can chat!
1. For me, the one important step which took me a while to master was time management! Seriously, if you don't master your schedule it will run you. Burnout happens quickly when you don't know what your doing and have no structure. I thought I knew what a real estate agent did every day and created all of these schedules that didn't fit me or my lifestyle. The key aspect here was making sure I know what I was doing the night before meaning, who I was going to call, talk to where I was going to be, and what to say no to. Every day I needed to be generating new leads, following up, planning on networking, checking in on my database, going on appointments, and closing deals. Once you can nail down a schedule that works for you, it will free up time to help you grow your business.
2. So the second step was in a tie for first place... systems! Oh! My! Goodness! So I know an agent that had some good business, but man it could have been better if she had systems in place. She was constantly tired and frustrated. She even lost deals and business because she couldn't keep up. There was no structure in place, no systems, and no standard operating procedures either. Systems can help you stay several steps ahead in your business and increase profitability. Having a great system shows you where you need to leverage, when to hire help, and when you've hit your goals! If you don't have a system then reach out to me and get into one of my systems courses.
3. Okay, now the third step I didn't appreciate enough. Get a coach and a mentor. In my opinion, they should NOT be the same person, but can if you force it. A brilliant real estate agent who has done extremely well for themselves once asked me, is there a quick way to make the money you want to make? The answer was yes, by listening to and working with someone whose already done it. I go deeper in my book about this one, but in the meantime get a coach, and find a mentor. Your mentor doesn't need to be another real estate agent, it can be someone who inspires you or even a spiritual leader.
4. Build a pipeline of business. That doesn't mean right now business may happen, but create a team of people that will buy, sell with you and refer business to you. Stay in touch with your people and add new people. Find out what they need and become a problem solver. They may not be ready to do anything right now but that doesn't mean you toss them to the side. I've closed 6 referral deals from a friend in one year and she still hasn't bought or sold real estate with me yet. Not that she doesn't love me, she loves her house more and does not want to sell it but she is my number one advocate.
5. Manage your money well. It's so cheap to get into real estate but when you not closing deals those expenses will add up and force you out. How does managing your money help you grow your business? You are able to market and build brand awareness when you can afford to pay for it. You don't need to spend thousands on a photoshoot, that's not what I'm saying. You just need to be ready to invest back into your business if you want it to grow. I talk more about this in my book but make sure you build a budget that includes having the funds to build your brand, market yourself, stay afloat if your closings are not consistent, and most importantly pay those real estate dues.
